Any Tarot Fans?

If anyone out there likes Tarot Cards - and I feel like those are the kinds of people who'd like my blog, for some reason - I'm working on a deck that'll go with my current book. The Major Arcana, anyways. For those of you who don't know that means, like, the Devil and the High Priestess and all the cool ones that show up in horror movies and books and such.

This is my "High Priestess" equivalent, "The K'thonic Queen". Went with that name because the High Priestess is usually related to Persephone, a Cthonic Goddess from Ancient Greece. And went with that spelling because it's kinda like "K'tulu", my preferred spelling of "Cthulhu". I sometimes suspect that "Cthulhu" comes from "Chthonic" seeing as Lovecraft was very well-schooled in mythology and folklore.

More on the way! And I may very well make the deck itself available for purchase, presuming enough people like it.

How a book gets written.

So, if anyone cares: my first novel, Jackie and Craig, was released on October 30th, 2017. I ordered a pizza and drank, because why the hell not, right? Truth be told, finally getting this book off the ground was less a Dionysiac riot of depravity and shameless debauchery (as most of my celebrations are) and more a long, guttural sigh of relief that lasted until.....well, until Yule rolled around and I just sorta forgot about it. I started illustrating my next book, a picture book that'll be released on January 20th, and I just sort of.....well, moved on. I didn't know what else to do, really. I mean, somebody was kind enough to put up a TV Tropes page and I heard from around seven or eight people about it, but so far it's just been one more thing to do. Of course, that doesn't mean I'll stop - anyone who can be dissuaded from writing should be , in the words of one of my idols, Harlan Ellison - but in a lot of ways, I'm not sure where to go from here. ...

The First Bonecutter

It all started when I went to a party my friend was having. Well, I use the word ‘party’ loosely. My friend was only a bit better off, socially, than I was; so that meant he was having his friends and his roommate’s friends over to get drunk. I qualify for the categories ‘friend’ and ‘likes to get drunk’ so I thought, what the Hell? It’s not like I have anything else to do, right? I’d never met his roommate. We only knew each other through School – he had just finished his Associate’s, so he was halfway done. I’d be going back for my Psychology Master’s after two and a half years of working night shift at a gas station and living with two roommates of mine, one of whom was my brother. I didn’t know my friend’s roommate had just hit thirty. But he had, and that meant the other group was mostly older people – there were eleven in total though, so I was able to take my usual course of action.
